Social Media Strategies Used by the Pros

The key to excelling on social media is to have a strong online strategy in place. Those businesses who have been present on social media platforms for a while now have figured out the tricks that get people’s attention and keep them engaged. Below are a few of those tricks that you can use for your own social media strategy!

  • Have a Unified presence
    When it comes to social media, it is important to be consistent. Your header and profile picture should be the same across all platforms so that you can be recognized by users anywhere online. In addition to the imagery, your messaging and voice across all platforms should be the same as well! 
  • Use the RITE formula
    The RITE formula is your key to creating effective content. It stands for Relevant, Interesting, Timely, and Entertaining. As long as your posts check off most of these characteristics, your content will be more appealing and will reach more people. So, when creating your content, think about the RITE formula and aim to include most (if not all) of the characteristics in order to get the most out of each post.
  • Post User Generated Content
    If you're posting content from your customers on your social media, you're doing it right. Not only is it a great source of social proof, but it also shows that you care about your customers on a more personal level. You could have people send in photos of themselves using your products or service to post on your page, or you could repost their posts on your Instagram stories. People will feel honored that their content is on your official page, and it shows customers that people just like them use and love your products or service. 
  • Host live sessions
    Another great social media strategy is to host live sessions regularly. This is a great way to show a behind-the-scenes perspective of your business or to increase follower engagement by answering any questions or starting a conversation. If you have these sessions at a set time each week or month, your followers will know when to tune in so they can get involved in each session. This allows you to humanize your business, and leaves people feeling closer to you and more comfortable developing personal connections with you.
  • Hold Contests or Giveaways
    Contests, challenges, and giveaways work wonders for increasing consumer engagement. Get your brand name trending with a hashtag, and have your followers tag a friend in the comments and follow you to increase your reach and following. They get the opportunity to win a prize, and you get to spread awareness of your brand. It’s a win-win for everyone!
  • Monitor and respond to mentions and comments
    Aside from just putting your content out there, you have to make sure you’re listening to your followers as well. Sometimes people may try to contact you through social media channels, and it is up to you to make sure that you are on top of these messages. When people engage with you on social media, they expect a response promptly. Remember, customer service is still super important on social media!
